PRODUKSI POLI ASAM LAKTAT DARI LIMBAH AMPAS PATI AREN

Poli asam laktat (PLA) yang dibuat pada penelitian ini menggunakan asam laktat dari bahan baku limbah ampas pati aren. Polimerisasi asam laktat menjadi poli asam laktat (PLA) dilakukan dengan metode ring opening polymerizaton pada suhu 170â—‹C dan tekanan 152 mmHg. Variabel pada proses polimerisasi adalah katalis Sn (II) Oct sebanyak 3%, 4%, 5% dan waktu reaksi 45 menit, 60 menit, 90 menit. Kristal PLA diperoleh dengan diendapkan menggunakan metanol dan selanjutnya dilakukan analisis termal dan yield. PLA hasil penelitian memiliki karakteristik termal (melting temperature dan glass transition temperature) tertinggi diperoleh pada katalis Sn (II) Oct 5% dan waktu reaksi 90 menit, berturut-turut yaitu 149â—¦C dan 61â—¦C. Jumlah poli asam laktat terbanyak diperoleh dari perlakuan penambahan katalis 5% dan waktu polimerisasi 90 menit, yaitu dengan yield 26,77%.Â
