ANALISIS PENGARUH TEKANAN DAN BEBAN PADA BAN TIPE RADIAL TERHADAP ROLLING RESISTANCE KENDARAAN PENUMPANG

Salah satu faktor yang berperan penting pada efisiensi bahan bakar dan keausan ban pada kendaraan adalah tahanan gelinding (rolling resistance). Rolling Resistance (RR) adalah tahanan terhadap roda saat menggelinding akibat adanya gaya gesek antara roda dengan permukaan jalan. Tulisan ini membahas pengaruh tekanan ban (inflated pressure) dan beban (load) terhadap nilai Rolling Resistance pada sebuah ban tipe radial untuk kendaraan penumpang. Pengukuran Rolling Resistance dilakukan menurut standar yang ditetapkan oleh International Organization for Standardization (ISO), yaitu ISO/FDIS 28580:2009. Pengujian dengan variasi inflated pressure diberikan dari 170 kPa, 190 kPa, 210 kPa, 230 kPa, dan 250 kPa dengan 80% beban maksimum ban. Sedangkan untuk variasi beban diberikan sebesar 60%, 70%, 80%, 90%, dan 100% beban maksimum ban dengan inflated pressure 210 kPa. Nilai Rolling Resistance diukur dengan alat uji PS Rolling Resistance Test Rig. Dari pengujian didapat bahwa, inflated pressure yang diberikan berbanding terbalik dengan nilai Rolling Resistance Coefficient (RRC). Semakin besar inflated pressure, semakin kecil nilai RRC. Sedangkan untuk variasi beban, besar beban tidak memiliki hubungan yang jelas terhadap nilai RRC, dimana nilai tertinggi RRC diperoleh pada 80% dari beban maksimum ban.
