Tribologi ialah ilmu yang mempelajari gesekan, aus dan pelumasan. Dengan tribologi pemborosan energi dapat dihemat. Seiring dengan peradaban manusia yang makin meningkat maka perkembangan ilmu ini juga meningkat. Dimulai dari bangsa Mesir sampai dengan peneliti-peneliti sekarang. Daerah pelumasan dibagi menjadi 3 rejim, yaitu: (Elasto) Hydrodynamic Lubrication, Boundary Lubrication, Mixed Lubrication. Proses aus terjadi pada Boundary lubrication. Keausan terdiri atas keausan adesif, keausan abrasif, keausan lelah permukaan dan keausan kimiawi. Usaha yang dilakukan untuk mengurangi aus diantaranya dengan pelumasan dan coating atau pelapisan logam pada permukaan. Kata kunci : tribologi, pelumasan, keausan.Downloads
