Ketera api merupakan alat transportasi masal yang masih menjadi andalan di Indonesia.Sistim penggerak pada kereta api dapat berupa motor diesel atau listrik. Sistim transmisi
lokomotif diesel dibedakan menjadi sistim transmisi diesel Hidrolis dan sisstim transmisi
elektris.
