EPR ( ELECTRON PARAMAGNETIC RESONANCE ) KARAKTERISASI INKLUSI KARBON DALAM KARBIDA BORON*)

Dalam Karbida Boron, ketergantungan lebar garis (delta B) resonansi paramagnetik elektron(EPR) dengan g = 2,0028 dalam karbon bebas; Cc, digunakan untuk menentukan rasio
perbandingan Permukaan dan Volume (S/V) dari inklusi karbon bebas. Pengurangan secara
berurutan dari Cc, dilakukan dengan menggunakan metode oksidasi vakum rendah (Low-
Vacuum Oxidation) dengan merubah tingkat temperatur. Sejumlah karbon bebas (fase grafit)
dalam sampel, diukur dengan menggunakan sinar-X. Analisa perubahan delta B (Cc) menunjukkan
bahwa inklusi karbon bebas pada lapisan permukaan partikel Polycrystalline Boron Carbide
memiliki rasio S/V dua kali lebih kecil dibanding inklusi karbon bebas pada bagian dalam
partikel Polycrystalline Boron Carbide.
